Pairs of Alternative Interior Angles made by Transversal
As we know that angles inside the two lines are called interior angles. Alternate interior angles means, angles inside the two lines but on the opposite side of transversal.

In the above diagram, Pairs of Alternative Interior Angles are as follows:

∠ 3 and ∠ 6 (highlighted in pink) - Pair 1

∠ 4 and ∠ 5 (highlighted in yellow) - Pair 2

As the angles are two, we also called them as pair.
