Area of Semi Circle

Area of Semi Circle Circumference of Semi Circle

Before you study this concept, you are advised to read:

What is Semi-Circle ?

Formula to find area of semi circle is

Area of Semi-Circle = 1
2
X (π) x radius2

Lets try of some examples and find the area of semi-circle

Example 1: Look at the below image and find the area of semi circle whose radius is 5cm. Take pi value as 3.14

Solution : lets add the radius and pi value to the formula of semi-circle and we get

Area of Semi-Circle = 1
2
X (π) X radius2

= 1
2
X 3.14 X 52

= 1
2
X 3.14 X 25

Solve the equation and we get = 39.25cm2

Example 2: Look at the below image and find the area of semi circle whose diameter is 20cm. Take pi value as 3.14

Solution : As radius is half of diameter we get
Radius = 20 ÷ 2 = 10 cm

lets add the radius and pi value to the formula of semi-circle and we get

Area of Semi-Circle = 1
2
X (π) X radius2

= 1
2
X 3.14 X 102

= 1
2
X 3.14 X 100

Solve the equation and we get = 157cm2
