Find volume of Cuboid

Total Surface area of Cuboid Lateral surface area of Cuboid Volume of Cuboid

Before you study how to calculate volume of cuboid, you are advised to read:

What is Cuboid ?
How to find Area of Rectangle ?

First let's understand What does volume means
The measure of the amount of space occupied by an object is known as "Volume of the Solid"

Volume of Cuboid = length X breadth X height

How formula for volume of cuboid is obtained

Observe the following diagram of cuboid:

Volume of cuboid is equals to Area of base multiplied by height (as shown below):
Volume of cuboid = Area of base X Height ... (Statement 1)

Now you can see that base is in rectangular shape, so apply formula for area of rectangle and we get:
Area of Base = Length X breath ... (Statement 2)

As mentioned above in statement 1:
Volume of cuboid = Area of base X Height

Put values from statement 2 and we get:
Volume of cuboid = Length X Breadth X Height

Therefore, in this way the volume of cuboid is obtained

Note: Volume of cuboid is always in cubic units i.e. mm3, cm3, m3 etc

Let try some following example to find the volume of given cuboid:

Example 1 : The length, breadth and height of a cuboid shape box are 2cm, 3cm, and 4cm. Find the volume of cuboid ?
Solution :

Length of Cuboid = 2 cm
Breadth of Cuboid = 3 cm
Height of Cuboid = 4 cm

Volume of Cuboid = Length X Breadth X Height
Volume of Cuboid = 2 X 3 X 4 = 24 cm3

Example 2 : The length, breadth and height of a cuboid shape box are 10cm, 5cm, and 5cm. Find the volume of cuboid ?
Solution :

Length of Cuboid = 10 cm
Breadth of Cuboid = 5 cm
Height of Cuboid = 5 cm

Volume of Cuboid = Length X Breadth X Height
Volume of Cuboid = 10 X 5 X 5 = 250 cm3

Example 3 : The length, breadth and height of a cuboid shape box are 3cm, 7cm, and 10cm. Find the volume of cuboid ?
Solution :

Length of Cuboid = 3 cm
Breadth of Cuboid = 7 cm
Height of Cuboid = 10 cm

Volume of Cuboid = Length X Breadth X Height
Volume of Cuboid = 3 X 7 X 10 = 210 cm3

Example 4 : The length, breadth and height of a cuboid shape box are 2cm, 4cm, and 5cm. Find the volume of cuboid ?
Solution :

Length of Cuboid = 2 cm
Breadth of Cuboid = 4 cm
Height of Cuboid = 5 cm

Volume of Cuboid = Length X Breadth X Height
Volume of Cuboid = 2 X 4 X 5 = 40 cm3
