Ratio to Percentage : Solved Examples

Ratio as Fraction Equivalent Ratios Proportion Terms (Proportion) Ratio to Percentage

In a triangle, sides are in ratio of 2 : 3 : 4. Find the equivalent value of sides in percentage.
As per the given question:

First Side : Second Side : Third Side = 2 : 3 : 4
So, three sides of triangle are the term of ratio & their respective term value is:
First Side = 2
Second Side = 3
Third Side = 4

Steps of Conversion are as follows:

  • Step 1 : Calculate Sum of terms of given ratio and we get:
    2 + 3 + 4 = 9
Therefore sum of terms of given ratio = 9

  • Step 2 : Represent Ratio of three sides in Fractional formn
Fractional Form for First Side = First side Term Value / Sum of terms
Put value of First side and sum of terms from above and we get:
    = 2/9
Therefore, Fractional Form for First side = 2/9

Fractional Form for Second Side = Second side Term Value / Sum of terms
Put value of Second side and sum of terms from above and we get:
    = 3/9
Therefore, Fractional Form for Second side = 3/9

Fractional Form for Third Side = Third side Term Value / Sum of terms
Put value of Third side and sum of terms from above and we get:
    = 4/9
Therefore, Fractional Form for Third side = 4/9

  • Step 3 : Convert Fractional Form into percentage
Percentage of First side = Fractional Form for First side x 100 %
Put value of Fractional Form for First side from above and we get:
    = (2/9) X 100
Solve the above expression and we get:
    = 22.22
Therefore, Percentage of First side = 22.22%

Percentage of Second side = Fractional Form for Second side x 100 %
Put value of Fractional Form for Second side from above and we get:
    = (3/9) X 100
Solve the above expression and we get:
    = 33.33
Therefore, Percentage of First side = 33.33%

Percentage of Third side = Fractional Form for Third side x 100 %
Put value of Fractional Form for Third side from above and we get:
    = (4/9) X 100
Solve the above expression and we get:
    = 44.44
Therefore, Percentage of Third side = 44.44%

Hence, percentage value of three side of given triangle is 22.22%, 33.33% and 44.44%
