Ratio to Percentage : Solved Examples

Ratio as Fraction Equivalent Ratios Proportion Terms (Proportion) Ratio to Percentage

Anna divided her salary among her son and daughter in the ration of 3 : 7. Find What percent of Anna salary did her son and daughter received.
As per the given question:

Sons share : Daughter Share = 3 : 7
So, son share and daughter share are the term of ratio & their respective term value is:
Son share = 3
Daughter share = 7

Steps of Conversion are as follows:

  • Step 1 : Calculate Sum of terms of given ratio and we get:
    3 + 7 = 10
Therefore sum of terms of given ratio = 10

  • Step 2 : Represent Ratio of Son share and Girl share in Fractional form
Fractional Form for son share = Son share Term Value / Sum of terms
Put value of son share and sum of terms from above and we get:
    = 3/10
Therefore, Fractional Form for son share = 3/10

Fractional Form for daughter share = daughter share Term value / Sum of terms
Put value of daughter share and sum of terms from above and we get:
    = 2/5
Therefore, Fractional Form for daughter share = 7/10

  • Step 3 : Convert Fractional Form into percentage
Percentage of son share = Fractional Form for son share x 100 %
Put value of Fractional Form for son share from above and we get:
    = (3/10) X 100
Solve the above expression and we get:
    = 30
Therefore, Percentage of Son share = 30%

Percentage for daughter share = Fractional Form for daughter share x 100 %
Put value of Fractional Form of daughter share from above and we get:
    = (7/10) X 100
Solve the above expression and we get:
    = 70
Therefore, Percentage of Daughter share = 70%

Hence, son got 30% and daughter got 70%; share of the total salary of Anna
