Define Percentage : Solved Examples

Percentage to Fraction Percentage to Decimal Percentage Increase Percentage Decrease

In a city with population 5000, adults are 35%, olds are 25% and children are 40%. Find the population of males, females and children in this city ?
As per the given question:

Total Population of City = 5000
Adults = 35%
Olds = 25%
Children = 40%

Finding Population of Adults:
Population of Adults = 35% of total population of city

Since total population is 5000, so we get:
Population of Adults = 35% of 5000

Convert % into fraction and we get:
= (35/100) X 5000

Solve above expression and we get:
= 1750

Therefore, population of Adults in the town is 1750

Finding Population of Olds:
Population of olds = 25% of total population of city

Since total population is 5000, so we get:
Population of olds = 25% of 5000

Convert % into fraction and we get:
= (25/100) X 5000

Solve above expression and we get:
= 1250

Therefore, population of olds in the town is 1250

Finding Population of Children:
Population of Children = 40% of total population of city

Since total population is 5000, so we get:
Population of Children = 40% of 5000

Convert % into fraction and we get:
= (40/100) X 5000

Solve above expression and we get:
= 2000

Therefore, population of children in the town is 2000
