Percentage Decrease : Solved Examples

Percentage to Fraction Percentage to Decimal Percentage Increase Percentage Decrease

Sales of cycle is 2014 is 2000 and in 2015 it is 1960. Find total percentage decrease in sales ?
Given things are

Sales in 2014 = 2000
Sales in 2015 = 1960

Now we will find decrease in sales and we get
Decrease in sales = 2014 sales - 2015 sales
Decrease in sales = 2000 - `1960
Decrease in sales = 40

Now we will apply the formula of percentage decrease and we get -

Percentage Decrease = (Decrease in value / Base Value) X 100
Percentage Decrease = (Decrease in Sales / 2014 Sales) X 100
Percentage Decrease = (40 / 2000) X 100
Percentage Decrease = 0.02 X 100
Percentage Decrease = 2%

So total decrease in sales is 2%
