Facts About Factors Prime Factorization Prime Factors Common Factors

Find common factors of the below

A) Common factors of 20 & 40
B) Common factors of 20 and 28
C) Common factors of 56 & 120
D) Common factors of 4, 8 and 12

A) Common factors of 20 & 40

Find factors of 20 & 40 and we get:

Factors of 20 = 1, 2, 4, 5, 10 & 20
Factors of 40 = 1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 10, 20 & 40

We can observe that 1, 2, 4, 5, 10 & 20 are factors of both 20 and 40.

Therefore, 1, 2, 4, 5, 10 & 20 are known as common factors of 20 and 40.

B) Common factors of 20 and 28

Find factors of 20 & 28 and we get:

Factors of 20 = 1, 2, 4, 5, 10 & 20
Factors of 28 = 1, 2, 4, 7, 14 & 28

We can observe that 1, 2 & 4 are factors of both 20 and 28

Therefore, 1, 2 & 4 are known as common factors of 20 and 28.

C) Common factors of 56 & 120

Find factors of 56 & 120 and we get:

Factors of 56 = 1, 2, 4 , 7, 8 , 14, 28 & 56
Factors of 24 = 1, 2 , 3, 4 , 5, 6, 8 , 10, 12, 15, 20, 24, 30, 40, 60 & 120

We can observe that 1, 2, 4 & 8 are factors of both 56 & 120

Therefore, 1, 2, 4 & 8 are known as common factors of 56 & 120

D) Common factors of 4, 8 and 12

Find factors of 4, 8 & 12 and we get:

Factors of 4 = 1, 2 & 4
Factors of 8 = 1, 2, 4 & 8
Factors of 12 = 1, 2 , 3, 4 , 6 & 12

We can observe that 1, 2 & 4 are factors of 4, 8 & 12

Therefore, 1, 2 & 4 are known as common factors of 4, 8 & 12
