Division of Negative Integer by Positive Integer

Division of Positive Integer by Negative Integer Division of Negative Integer by Positive Integer Division of Negative Integer by Negative Integer

In order to divide negative integer by positive integer, we simply divide them as we do in case of whole number and put minus (-) sign before the quotient.

In other words, when a negative integer is divided by a positive integer, the quotient will always be a negative integer.

Try following example to understand further:-

Example 1 = Divide (-15) by 3
Answer =
As per the given condition, we get
= (-15) / 3
Now divide 15 by 3 and we get
= 5
And add minus (-) sign to the quotient and we get;
= (-5)

Example 2 = Divide (-90) by 9
Answer =
As per the given condition, we get
= (-90) / 9
Now divide 90 by 9 and we get
= 10
And add minus (-) sign to the quotient and we get;
= (-10)
