Convert Mixed Fraction to Improper Fraction

Mixed Fraction To Improper Fraction Improper Fraction To Mixed Fraction Fraction To Percentage Mixed Fraction To Percentage Proper Fraction into Decimal
Improper Fraction into Decimal Mixed Fraction into Decimal

Before you study how to convert a mixed fraction to improper fraction, you are advised to read

What is mixed fraction ?
What is improper fraction ?

To convert a Mixed Fraction into Improper Fraction follow the following steps ;-

Step 1 = Multiply the Denominator with the Whole Number.

Step 2 = Add the result(of step 1) to the Numerator.

Step 3 = The Final Result(after step 2) becomes the Numerator of Improper Fraction.

Step 4 = Denominator of Mixed Fraction is equal to the Denominator of Improper Fraction.

In short, apply the following formula to Convert a Mixed Fraction into Improper Fraction :-

(Whole Number X Denominator) + Numerator
Denominator

Following examples further demonstrate Conversion of Mixed Fraction to Improper Fractions.

Example 1 : Convert the following mixed fraction to improper fraction

32
5

Answer = The process of conversion is as :-

Step 1 = Multiply the Denominator(i.e 5) with the Whole Number(i.e 3) = 5 × 3 = 15

Step 2 = Add the result(of step 1 i.e 15) to the Numerator(i.e 2). = 15 + 2 = 17

Step 3 = The Final Result = Numerator of Improper Fraction = 17

Step 4 = Denominator of Mixed Fraction = Denominator of Improper Fraction = 5

Hence, The Improper Fraction = 17/5

Example 2 : Convert the following mixed fraction to improper fraction

12
3

Answer = The process of conversion is as :-

Step 1 = Multiply the Denominator(i.e 3) with the Whole Number(i.e 1) = 3 × 1 = 3.

Step 2 = Add the result(of step 1 i.e 3) to the Numerator(i.e 2). = 3 + 2 = 5.

Step 3 = The Final Result = Numerator of Improper Fraction = 5.

Step 4 = Denominator of Mixed Fraction = Denominator of Improper Fraction = 3

Hence, The Improper Fraction = 5/3

Example 3 : Convert the following mixed fraction to improper fraction

107
8

Answer = The process of conversion is as :-

Step 1 = Multiply the Denominator(i.e 8) with the Whole Number(i.e 10) = 10 × 8 = 80.

Step 2 = Add the result(of step 1 i.e 80) to the Numerator(i.e 7). = 80 + 7 = 87.

Step 3 = The Final Result = Numerator of Improper Fraction. = 87.

Step 4 = Denominator of Mixed Fraction = Denominator of Improper Fraction = 8.

Hence, The Improper Fraction = 87/8.
