Comparison of Like Fraction with Same Denominators and find which is greater and smaller

Comparison of Like Fraction Comparison of Unlike Fraction (Same Numerator) Comparison of Unlike Fraction (Different Numerators)

Before you study how to compare fractions and find which fraction is bigger or smaller, you are advised to read

What are Like Fractions ?

It is very simple to compare like fractions. When you need to compare two like fractions, the fraction with greater numerator is larger and vice verse

Following are few examples explaining How to compare fractions with same denominator :-

Example 1 : Compare the following like fractions

2
5
and 8
5

Answer : Given fractions are like fractions, so the fraction with greater numerator is larger.

Hence 8
5
> 2
5

Example 2 : Find from the below given two fraction which is greater

24
87
and 10
87

Answer : Given fractions have same denominator, so the fraction with greater numerator is larger.

24
87
> 10
87

Example 3 : Compare between the below like fraction which is greater ?

23
10
and 13
10

Answer : Given fractions are like fractions, so the fraction with greater numerator is larger.

Hence 23
10
> 13
10

Example 4 : Find among the given two fraction which is greater ?

11
90
and 77
90

Answer : Given fractions have same denominator, so the fraction with greater numerator is larger.

Hence 77
90
> 11
90
