An arc is a piece or portion of a circle between two points. (as shown below):



Some more diagrams of arcs are as follows:



In a circle, an arc can be of following two types:
  • Major Arc
  • Minor Arc

    As you can understand from their names that, Major Arc is a longer arc and Minor Arc is a shorter one

    Observe the following figure:



    For better understanding you can split the arcs and you could understand Why one is called Major Arc and another one as Minor Arc (as shown below):
