Addition of Integers

Addition of Integers | Additive Inverse | Multipication of a Negative and a Positive Integer | Multiplication of Two Negative Integers | Multiplication of Two Positive Integers | Negative Integers | Positive Integers | Subtraction of Integers |

In addition of integers, we are normal faced with three conditions. These conditions are explained below with example:-

CONDITION 1 = When we have to add two positive integers.
EXPLANATION = This is the simplest one and in this this we just add the integers and put (+)sign with the integer in the answer as both the integers are positive integers.

Example 1 = (+4) + (+7)
Answer =(+4) + (+7)
Here we simply add two integers and put (+)sign because both integers are positive integers.
= +11
or = 11

CONDITION 2 = When we have to add two negative integers.
EXPLANATION = Here we add the integers and put (-)sign in the answer as both are negative integers.

Example 1 = (-4) + (-7)
Answer =(-4) + (-7)
Here also,we simply add the integers and put (-)sign because both integers are negative integers.
= -11

CONDITION 3 = When we have to add one positive and negative integers.
EXPLANATION = In such a situation where we have one positive and one negative integer we will subtract the digit and the answer will contain the sign of bigger digit.

Example 1 = (+4) + (-7)
Answer =(+4) + (-7)
Here we will subtract the integers and answer will contain (-)sign because in the above example the bigger digit is 7 and it contain (-) sign, so we get
= -3

Example 2 = (-9) + (+20)
Answer =(-9) + (+20)
Here we will subtract the integers and answer will contain (+)sign because in the above example the bigger digit is 20 and it contain (+) sign, so we get,
= +11
or = 11

Also, many times we are given a question which have a mix of above three condition. To understand such question lets get through below mentioned examples : -

Exapmle 1 :- (-4)+(+3)+(+8)(-9)

Exapmle 2 :- (-4)+(+3)+(-8)(+9)

Exapmle 3 :- (+25)+(-32)+(-58)(+91)

Exapmle 4 :- (-25)+(+32)+(-58)(+91)(-18)(+82)
